New Hope trauma healing training

Too many around us suffer from the hidden scars of life traumas that have never been properly dealt with. The last week of June four national believers and two IMB Team Hungary couples, Gary & Carolyn Miller and Monte & April Baker, took part in a New Hope conference in Budapest.  During the four-day training we practiced techniques for working with trauma survivors to promote healing in a Bible-based, small-group setting.

We are so thankful for the training opportunity and pray that we  will be able to apply what we’ve learned in future small group ministry.

Intercede for trauma survivors in Hungary, that they will find healing and hope through the application of biblical truth in a loving environment. Ask that they will learn that no matter what has happened – or is happening – in their lives, they can trust the Father to walk through it with them and give them grace and healing.

The historic Baptist church in the Rákospalota neighborhood of Budapest kindly hosted the conference.  It was a blessing for the Millers to get to know the people there and to spend a good part of Sunday with them; Gary was asked to preach the Sunday morning sermon, and a family graciously invited us into their home for a wonderful meal and time of fellowship. In the photo of the pulpit and organ, note the Scripture verse carved on the front of the pulpit:  “The Word of God stands forever.” Pray for the dear brothers and sisters of the Rákospalotai Baptist church as they minister to those around them. Month of Prayer Day 24: National Believers & Partnering Organizations

Pray with us today for the national believers, churches, and partnering organizations we are blessed to work alongside. We’re so very thankful for the precious Hungarian brothers and sisters in Christ who allow us to serve beside them in the field, and who are so gracious to us as visitors in their country.  We’re also very blessed by the workers from other organizations who encourage us and partner with us in the missionary task — what a joy it is to serve together!

  • Give praise to God for how His work is advanced as His children serve Him in love and unity of purpose.
  • Pray that the Lord will guide, encourage, and provide for those who are faithfully serving Him.  Many national believers are ministering at great personal sacrifice on the part of themselves and their families.

Month of Prayer Day 21: Bethel Baptist Church, Nagykanizsa

Today let’s lift up Bethel Baptist Church in Nagykanizsa, a ministry of Paul and Tena Brock. Praise God that nationals are stepping into leadership roles!

  • Ask the Lord to continue to grow this church both in spirit and number, and that they will be encouraged and excited to share their faith and disciple others.

Month of Prayer Day 20: Billy & Sheri, Field Medical Coordinators

Today we’ll be praying for Billy & Sheri, IMB Field Medical Coordinators for Europe.  They are based in Budapest but minister to personnel and their families from all across Europe, and are often on the road (or in the air) as they carry out their ministry. Sometimes they are helping people to work through routine matters, but all too often things are quite serious.

  • Lift up as Billy and Sheri as they assist personnel & their families in times of trouble, pain, and difficult decision-making. Ask the Lord to give them strength, wisdom and endurance as they deal with the needs that come their way.
  • Praise God for such caring, compassionate co-workers who assist missionary families to keep them functioning well and on the field.

Month of Prayer Day 19: More Agóra Church Plants

God is working in Budapest through the Agóra church plants!  Pray God brings to life the vision of more such churches planted throughout Budapest.

  • Pray that there will be a loving, Bible-preaching, disciple-making church within easy reach of every person in Budapest.
