The Moving Blocks: Fall 2019 Update

The Blocks enjoying a hike while on vacation

Daniel and Rachel write:

This fall has flown by for us! As of September 20th, we have lived in Hungary for ONE year! We are so thankful for how the Lord has sustained us and challenged us in the last year! Thank you to all who have prayed for us this last year and continue to do so, we could not be here without the many prayers of God’s people….More on “The Moving Blocks” blog

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for us as we continue to acquire language and learn more about Hungarian culture.
  • Pray that we will not get sick as winter approaches and the temperature drops.
  • Pray for the people we have shared the gospel with, that God would bring them to faith.
  • Pray that we would not be discouraged.

European Peoples season of prayer

Stats show that about 99% of people across Europe aren’t yet born again believers, but God is moving, things are happening.  There is hope in Christ even when things seem to be pretty crazy in this world!

Join us starting TODAY in praying for the peoples of Europe — download the  prayer guide pdf here from the IMB European Peoples : 40 Days of Prayer 2019.

The Moving Blocks: Summer 2019 Update

This summer has gone by so quickly! We have had the opportunity to travel and visit with many friends and colleagues that work in other parts of the world….More on “The Moving Blocks” blog

Prayer requests:

  • That we would have much focus and determination this fall as we prepare for our first language exam in December.
  • Pray for Nehemiah as he starts preschool on September 2nd! He will spend half days in a full Hungarian speaking preschool 5 days a week. Pray that he would make deep friendships and pray for his ability to continue learning a new language and culture in this season.
  • Pray we would entrust Nehemiah to the Lord, especially in this new season with lots of changes.
  • Pray for many opportunities to share and develop friendships with the lost at N’s preschool. This is a new window of opportunity for us to meet other parents and to build more relationships with others!

Signs of Spring

The end of March brought some really lovely weather to Hungary!  Trees and flowers are coming to life, people are out and about with no more than a light jacket, and we are reminded of how much we have  to be thankful for as we look back over the last months, as well as what’s on our calendar for the days to come.

We’ve been dealing with some illness, so please pray that the Lord will give us strength and energy for each day’s work, and that we will continually be reminded to live in His joy and to share it with others.

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

Berekfürdő advent celebration

We had the pleasure of joining the people of Berekfürdő last Sunday as the community gathered to celebrate the opening of the Christmas season.  There was music, some words from the Reformed pastor, cookies baked by local children and sponsors, spiced tea and mulled wine (we had the tea), and the ceremonial lighting of the first candle on the Advent wreath.  The flame was then passed on from person to person among those who brought a candle; children moved through the crowd offering the homemade cookies from wicker baskets.  It’s so hard to not take another…and another…from such cute kids who are politely wishing you a merry Christmas and urging that you take from their basket!

As we move through the coming weeks and to the celebration of Christ’s coming, may we all remember what (or rather Who) it’s all about, and may we share Him with others.

Pray for the people of Berekürdő and the small mission point we are serving with there in partnership with the Karcag Baptist church; ask the Lord to grow the group into a vital, mission-minded church that will reach the community for Christ.

Wishing you all a very blessed Christmas!
