New Hope trauma healing training

Too many around us suffer from the hidden scars of life traumas that have never been properly dealt with. The last week of June four national believers and two IMB Team Hungary couples, Gary & Carolyn Miller and Monte & April Baker, took part in a New Hope conference in Budapest.  During the four-day training we practiced techniques for working with trauma survivors to promote healing in a Bible-based, small-group setting.

We are so thankful for the training opportunity and pray that we  will be able to apply what we’ve learned in future small group ministry.

Intercede for trauma survivors in Hungary, that they will find healing and hope through the application of biblical truth in a loving environment. Ask that they will learn that no matter what has happened – or is happening – in their lives, they can trust the Father to walk through it with them and give them grace and healing.

The historic Baptist church in the Rákospalota neighborhood of Budapest kindly hosted the conference.  It was a blessing for the Millers to get to know the people there and to spend a good part of Sunday with them; Gary was asked to preach the Sunday morning sermon, and a family graciously invited us into their home for a wonderful meal and time of fellowship. In the photo of the pulpit and organ, note the Scripture verse carved on the front of the pulpit:  “The Word of God stands forever.” Pray for the dear brothers and sisters of the Rákospalotai Baptist church as they minister to those around them. Month of Prayer Day 16: Mercy Ministries

Please pray with us for Mercy Ministries work in Hungary. Multiple organizations and churches see the need to be more effective in reaching out to people and families with special needs.  Our goal is to partner with as many other believers as possible to help make this happen. We wish to do this primarily through personal relationships with like-minded Christians.

IMB Budapest Team members Monte and April Baker and family are currently serving in Mercy Ministries.  In addition to their own work, they are researching possibilities and discussing with various organizations how to best partner together in future work.

  • Pray for those across the nation who are hurting and need to experience God’s love in special ways, and for believers as they seek to minister to them.

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds…”  Hebrews 10:24 (NIV)

Month of Prayer Day 11: Monte and April Baker

Today let’s pray for IMB family Monte and April Baker and their four children, who live in the Békásmegyer neighborhood of Budapest’s District III.  Ask the Lord to give them health, encouragement, and many opportunities to share Christ.  Pray as they minister through the Turner Syndrome support group and work to develop a Mercy Ministries network across the nation of Hungary; ask the Lord bless them with a good national partner to work with in planting a new church in Budapest.  Békásmegyer is one area that needs a church plant. Month of Prayer Day 1: TS Support Group & Debrecen concert

We’re starting off this month of prayer with a double prayer request – lots going on today!

The Turner Syndrome Support group is meeting today in one of Budapest’s beautiful parks. Pray relaxed conversations will lead to shared testimonies and the gospel. Also pray that rainy weather won’t hinder what needs to happen during this get-together.

The Singing Men of Texas will be presenting the first of their 10 concerts of this tour in Debrecen today, the music being followed by a simple, gospel-centered message from international evangelist Michael Gott.   Pray that the Lord will refresh the team after their long flights and help them to adjust quickly so that they can serve with joy and strength; intercede that local believers will bring their lost friends and follow up with them over the days to come.
