Month of Prayer Day 13: Dunakeszi Men’s Discipleship Group

Pray for the Monday night men’s discipleship group that Monte Baker is leading in Budapest’s Dunakeszi suburb (Wikipedia). Ask for wisdom for Monte as he leads, and for the guys to go deep in the Word.  Pray that they’ll grow strong as men of God, impacting their families, their neighborhoods, and their nation for Christ. Ask for the Holy Spirit’s work in their lives, empowering them to live in love and obedience to what God shows them.

“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”   Matthew 5:16 (NASB)

Greetings from Debrecen,

Wow, what an amazing week! The two pastors from the states, Scott and Adam,  did a great job encouraging men to be leaders in the church and the importance of discipleship in the life of every believer. God brought the men to each of the meeting places and it is so neat to see what God is doing in the lives of men in Hungary. We had a great time on Monday just sharing about how God was working in our lives.

Wednesday night two students from Darrel’s class met with him for coffee and they had some great conversations. Please keep praying for these students! Last week we prayed for spiritual conversations and God answered our prayers…Yeah, God!

Language lesson with our neighbors went really well. God is helping me speak Hungarian.

Praising God for all of you who are praying for students in Debrecen.

Please continue to pray:

  • The men who participated in the teaching time this week would be obedient to the things that God has revealed to them. That they would see who it is they are to invest in and disciple.
  • God would direct Darrel as he prepares for class. Last week they talked about character and integrity and it is interesting how people approach the subject of character and what it means to them. Pray for wisdom during the class discussion and for people who God is at work to continue the discussion after class.
  • The girls and I will be on campus talking with students, pray that God will send those whom he desire for us to talk with and for opportunities to share with those who are not believers.
  • We have several non-Christians coming to coffee house, pray that we will have the opportunity to share the gospel with them in our conversations. Pray that we will also have encouraging words for the believers who come.
  • D., a student who needs to know Jesus. His dad has a high position in the community in his home country.

Thank you so much for praying this week.

Hathcocks’ prayer update excerpts

Greetings from Debrecen,

We are so thankful for God’s provision. So thankful for the opportunities to invest in the lives of young people that He has sent to us!! Arianna did a great job playing piano at the coffee house. We had some great conversations and I think many students were encouraged.

We are also blessed to have a pastor and friend to come and challenge men to accept their responsibility to lead the church and to disciple others. Darrel’s class continues to do well because people are praying for him. If you are still interested in praying for individual students till the end of May then let me know and I will give you a name.

Please continue to pray!

  • Darrel and the group that will be traveling to different cities in Hungary to challenge and encourage men. Pray for safety and that these men will accept this challenge and to be obedient to what God reveals to them during the conference.
  • This week Darrel will be teaching about a character quality. Pray that the students will participate in the discussion and that at some point they will be able to share about spiritual things.
  • Discipleship time on Monday, this week will be more of a sharing and fellowship time. Pray that they will be willing to share what God is doing in their lives and that they would be encouraged by each other and how God is working in their lives.
  • Wednesday night as the girls and I spend time on campus, that God would direct us as we pray and meet with students.
  • Thursday as I meet with a language partner who is not a Christian, that God would enable me to understand and speak Hungarian. Also that God would give me understanding as I study.
  • Pray that we will keep our eyes on Him and have wisdom to navigate the path that is before us.
