Bible Camp Follow-up Event

Please be praying with us for a follow-up event taking place this Saturday for the kids and youth that took part in the recent Grain Game 5-day Bible camp in Karcag. Gary is billing this event as the camp’s “Day 6″…the fun and relationships will continue, with the focus still on Bible truths experienced through interactive, creative demonstrations. This event is not only a follow-up to the camp, but will also serve to connect these kids to ministries that take place during the school year.

  • Pray for Gary as he plans and presents the program, that the teachings will connect with where the kids are spiritually and be very clear in Hungarian.
  • Ask that the Holy Spirit will soften hearts and open spiritual eyes to Bible truths.
  • Pray that the young people and their families will be drawn to faith in Christ and get involved with discipleship and service in the local church and community.

GG Camp update

Thank you again to all who prayed for the July 24-28 Grain Game camp in Karcag. Most of those at the camp were not “church kids,” and a lot of gospel seeds were sown.  Please keep lifting up those who heard the Good News, and for those who also spent time in inductive Bible study with Gary.    The guys Gary was working with said that they believe in God but that they aren’t ready to trust Him yet.  May that day come very soon!

We are thankful for the ministry of the Karcag Baptist church and for the work of Grain Game both in Hungary and around the world. Praise the Lord with us for how He is working through His Word, using His people in many creative ways. Here are some pictures from the week.

Our thanks to Grain Game and Grain Game photographer extraordinaire Marci Erdei for the use of the photos.

Pig fat and prayer

It’s been a marathon of activity here, but what a joy it is to see God working!  Gary has been assisting with a Grain Game Bible camp in Karcag, where he’s had the opportunity to start training some of the older kids in simple inductive Bible study.  Some very serious conversations have been taking place!  Pray that these young men will open their hearts to the Lord as they look into His Word.

And tonight after camp is over for the day there will be a cookout — the Hungarian delicacy of pig fat roasted on a stick over an open fire, with the tasty drippings drizzled over thick hunks of bread topped with slices of onion, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.  Along with food for the body will come some food for the soul.

Pray for Grain Game’s Chip Riley and for Gary as they tell the story of how God orchestrated “random” people and events to kick off the crazy, creative wonderfulness that is the Grain Game – Bible teaching for kids unforgettably illustrated through active games, demonstrations, lots of water, shaving cream, balloons and more.  In addition to the Bible truths explored throughout the day, the gospel message will be shared very plainly tonight at the cookout with the campers, family members and friends who come, so pray with us that hearts will be open to receive the message. Pray that nothing–including rain, which caused the postponement of this event last night–will stand in the way of decisions for Christ!

Tiszafüred camp update

Thank you for praying for the kids’ Bible camp in Tiszafüred last week.  Fewer came than we had hoped (we are discussing how to reach more next year) but nevertheless a great time was had by all; PTL, gospel seeds were sown in the hearts of children and even a few adults, too!  Grain Game worker Luke Higdon did a wonderful job of teaching bite-sized biblical truths, illustrated by hilariously memorable games and activities…lots of shaving cream, water (which was very welcome in the blazing July heat), bubbles, beach balls, etc, etc.

Here are some photos from the week.  As you share in these fun memories with us, pray for each child and the families they represent, asking the Lord to use the truths taught to transform lives and to impact families and the community for Christ.  Pray that the little church plant will be encouraged and continue to grow, glorifying God and spreading the Good News all across the area.

Grain Game camp coming soon to Tiszafüred

This little park in Tiszafüred is empty and quiet now, but next week there will be shouts of hilarity and bodies in motion as kids aged 10-15 take part in a Grain Game Bible camp!

Please start praying now, while camp invitations are being circulated, that young people will come whose hearts are already being prepared for the gospel message.  Pray that camp workers will have the energy–in spite of exhaustion and July heat–to creatively teach and lovingly share their lives with the kids who come.

Thank you for interceding for us and with us…to God be the glory!
