Month of Prayer Day 26: Tiszafüred Church Plant

“Baptist Prayer Room” sign with meeting times — this was on the building at the time we were helping lead the group

Today’s prayer request is for the Tiszafüred church plant, a part of the Karcag Baptist church circle in eastern Hungary.  As you pray for this small group, now led entirely by nationals, ask for continued growth both in numbers and in spiritual growth.  Ask the Lord to strengthen them and guide them in how to reach out to their families and community with the love of Christ.

Month of Prayer Day 25: Daniel and Rachel Block

Family photo taken by the Danube in Budapest: Daniel, Rachel & Nehemiah Block

Daniel, Rachel & Nehemiah Block by the Danube River in Budapest

Today let’s pray for Daniel & Rachel Block and their young son, Nehemiah, who moved to Hungary in September of 2018 to serve as church planters.  The Blocks currently live in Székesfehérvár, where they are studying the very interesting and difficult Hungarian language. Székesfehérvár on Wikipedia

  • Pray for diligence in language study for Daniel and Rachel, specifically that they would learn to share the gospel quickly and effectively in Hungarian.
  • They are scheduled to take their first exam (A-2) in December of this year. This will be the real test of their language studies, so please be praying now that they would pass and move on to the next phase of language study.
  • Also lift up the Blocks as they begin the process of finding a kindergarten for Nehemiah to go to in September. Pray they would find the right one and that Nehemiah would flourish in this next season.

Month of Prayer Day 24: National Believers & Partnering Organizations

Pray with us today for the national believers, churches, and partnering organizations we are blessed to work alongside. We’re so very thankful for the precious Hungarian brothers and sisters in Christ who allow us to serve beside them in the field, and who are so gracious to us as visitors in their country.  We’re also very blessed by the workers from other organizations who encourage us and partner with us in the missionary task — what a joy it is to serve together!

  • Give praise to God for how His work is advanced as His children serve Him in love and unity of purpose.
  • Pray that the Lord will guide, encourage, and provide for those who are faithfully serving Him.  Many national believers are ministering at great personal sacrifice on the part of themselves and their families.

Month of Prayer Day 23: Relationship-building

Real, loving relationships are so important!

  • Pray today for all of our missionary families as we build new relationships in our communities and continue to strengthen old ones.
  • Ask that we will be good listeners and true friends, and that our language and cultural skills will keep growing so that we can be good neighbors and truly share life with those around us.
  • Pray that God will lead us to “persons of peace” in neighborhoods who will welcome us and the gospel witness we bring, willingly serving as a gateway relationship into their family, neighborhood, or community.

Month of Prayer Day 22: Nagykanizsa English camps

Paul and Tena Brock of the IMB Western Hungary Team ask that we pray with them for the June 24-28 and July 1-5 intensive English outreach camps that will be taking place in Nagykanizsa. Preparations are going on now both on-site in Hungary and in the US as volunteers prepare to teach English lessons and share their testimonies with students.

  • Pray that preparations and logistics will go smoothly.
  • Ask the Lord to bring students to the camps full of enthusiasm to improve their language skills and with hearts ready to receive the message of the love of Christ.
